November Trip Summary

In November 2010 members of FFHC traveled to Tanzania. The team met with recipient families and the Tanzanian Central Committee of FFHC.

They were able to see some of the homes and get
up dates from the families impacted by the program. Among them was Clara, an orphan caring for four younger siblings. She struggled to support her siblings. In 2009 she received a dairy goat. The young family now has five goats. She is enrolled in school and reports that she is better able to support her siblings.

The team also engaged in community development projects including assisting families build sheds for their new goats. The sheds will help to protect the goats from predatory animals and help keep them healthy. They also worked in two elementary school buildings. In one they worked with the villagers to bring in boulders for the flooring. At a later time the villager planned to bring in sand to cover the boulders to create the floor. In the second school the team painted the walls of the teacher's quarters.

FFHC also hosted pass on ceremonies in two villages. The pass on ceremony included a feast provided by FFHC. Recipient families were able to pass on their first born kid goats to other needy families. Passing on the blessing they were given.

The team also met with local pastors and conducted ALPHA training. ALPHA is a bible curriculum that introduces people to Christianity.

A veterinarian from Texas joined the local vet, Joseph, in vaccinating the goats. Most of the goats in the program were vaccinated to help them stay healthy and strong.
