Making Preparations!
November 8th- 20th.
Although communication between the US and Tanzania is on-going through email
and skype calls, there is no replacement for a personal
visit. These yearly trips allow Food For
His Children’s American leadership to see the program in action and to meet the
people being served. These trips also
strengthen relationships that have been formed with the Tanzanian volunteer leadership, village elders, and recipient families. Travelling to spend time with the people of Tanzania
is one way that Food for His Children shows its
love.
This year’s trip has many activities planned.
As with past trips, this year's team will spend time visiting the
families in their homes. The team will be able
to see the goat sheds the families have recently constructed and ask for feedback on how
the program is impacting them. There will also be time for community
meetings where the villagers show the team skills they are good at. During last year’s trip the team was shown
how they make pottery, and braid rope, among others. This was a highlight of the trip for many of
the families and for the team.
At community meetings questions effecting the larger community will be asked. Planning will continue for the Development Center and Goat Farm. During these meetings Sharon, a nurse by vocation, will also spend time doing health assessments for the children.
Goat pass-on ceremonies will also take place in the villages. This is where families who have recieved a goat in the past and successfully raised it to produce its first off-spring are able to pass-on the gift they have been given by giving their first born baby goat to another family in need. This is a time of celebration for the families and the program!
Please be in prayer for the team as they make preparations including obtaining visas and updating immunizations. In this area malaria, and typhoid fever are risks.
If you would like to support one of the team members travelling to Tanzania by making a financial contribution you can donate on-line by visiting www.FoodForHisChildren.org/give
