Food For His Children is up and running!
For those of you familiar with FFHC the last few months have been very exciting for the organization. What was once 2 people with a vision and a heart to serve the poorest of the poor in rural Tanzania has grown to an organized volunteer staff in Minnesota and village leaders in the Karatu district.
Missions trips over the last 6 months have yielded much information about the community, their needs and what role Food For His Children can play there. The response from the villages is that the goats and families are doing well. Goat kids are being born and passed on to other families in need. Another trip is scheduled for November 2010 which will include a goat passing on ceremony, visits with recipient families, and community assessments.
Land has been donated in Tanzania by the leaders in the Bassadowish village. This land is being considered for the future home of FFHC's goat farm. This farm could serve as a place for breeding and housing goats until they are released to new families. It could also grow into a goat milk or cheese processing center. There are several ideas being considered for this generous gift!
A celebration and fundraiser is set for September 26th, 2010. This event will feature traditional African foods, entertainment by African musical group Messiah's Men, a photo gallery and silent auction. Please join us at 5:00pm at Crossroads church in Lakeville, MN. A donation of $5 per adult will cover the cost of the event and be your ticket inside.
